A week of outfits in a heatwave
I feel like I really had fun with my outfits this week, despite the heat in London. I found it quite liberating not having to worry about what shoes I wore (due to rain - hello Chanel pumps) or covering my outfit with a coat. Yes, the boiling weather had its own challenges but on the whole I can confidently say I left the house feeling good this week which is a win.
Monday, Black Co-Ord + Leopard Bag
I posted this look on Instagram saying how when I wore this Dissh set on holiday and felt a bit ‘meh’ in it, but when I got home and styled it with a little edge I loved it. It needed some tension - flip-flops and a basket bag worked for the beach back in the city is where it came alive - a ballet flat, a leopard print bag and a statement necklace gave it that edge I crave.

Tuesday, Stripes + Lace
Every summer I pull out this combination - a stripe long sleeve tee with a satin/silk/lace style skirt or short. I can feel a little basic and boring in a striped tee with denim and the mix of fabrics adds a little interest and makes me fall in love with the wardrobe classic again. The tee is old The White Company and shorts old J.Crew but I’ve linked similar.

Wednesday, 90s Skirt + Long Sleeve Tee
CBK inspired pencil skirt and a long sleeve tee - my uniform for meetings. I felt so chic in this look. I love that feeling when you’re fresh back from holiday and you get to wear ‘real’ clothes again. It’s either a long sleeve tee or a baby tee for me right now.

Thursday, Long Shorts + Baby Tee
I loved these knee length shorts way more than I thought I would. I think the colour and pretty embroidery keeps them on the feminine side counter-acting the shape. Teamed with my Flore Flore Baby Tee (one of my best buys of late), Dune Ballet Flats (sold out but these look very cool) and a structured bag to elevate.

Friday, Slip Dress + Ballet Flats
A slip dress is a fail-safe for me year round but especially in the summer. I love the simplicity of a black slip, the lace detailing on this one from Reformation adding some interest. I’m here for lingerie inspired dresses. I’ve linked similar here as this one is old.

Saturday, Tassels + Beads
I didn’t go out in this, far too hot right now. But, I couldn’t wait to try on. Very cool worn as a set and equally as chic as separates. By Malene Birger is one of my fave brands and this set will be getting so much wear.

Sunday, Balloon Pants + Baby Tee
I love the way a balloon pant can make you look like you’ve made way more effort than you actually have. These are the newer version from Weekday and the fit is just as cool as the soft cotton ones I’ve been wearing. Again, with the Baby Tee - it’s the perfect cut - not too short like some other I have and really works proportion wise with the balloon pants. Low effort, maximum impact.

The June Issue
Whenever I start spending too much time trying to create an outfit instead of just throwing one together, it usually means I’ve been adding more than editing. For me, the goal is to have all the right ingredients in my wardrobe so I can grab and go – no overthinking. Sure, I might swap an oversized tee for something more fitted, or trade my denim for a more relaxed pair, but overall, I want to be able to get dressed without the internal debate.
The formulas that work when the heat rises but we've got shit to do
The first heatwave of summer always catches me off guard. Friday night I had a night out planned and nothing to wear. Except I did, I just couldn’t rely on my usual tools to make me feel good. No throwing on a leather jacket to add edge to a feminine dress. My baggy jeans, heels and simple black knit were out of the question, as were some of my favourite dresses due to the long sleeves or heavy fabrics. It took a minute, a few discarded outfits, and then I landed on silk tasselled pants and a simple tee. I never want to look too ‘done’ so this was the perfect resolution. Party pants, sandals, a tee and a diamond necklace. I felt like myself and was dressed appropriately for the heat without having to expose too much skin.

Damn you, I just bought the Dissh set.
