Whenever I start spending too much time trying to create an outfit instead of just throwing one together, it usually means I’ve been adding more than editing. For me, the goal is to have all the right ingredients in my wardrobe so I can grab and go – no overthinking. Sure, I might swap an oversized tee for something more fitted, or trade my denim for a more relaxed pair, but overall, I want to be able to get dressed without the internal debate.

A big part of getting there is having pieces you actually like – sounds obvious, but even after years of working in fashion and curating edits, I still find the occasional item in my wardrobe that just feels off – things can slip through. That’s why I always come back to the same mantra: curate, curate, curate. Be ruthless. Don’t buy clothes that don’t resonate with you or suit your lifestyle. Fewer options, more of what you love – that’s the key.

One of the easiest ways to stay grounded in your style is to have a muse. Not to copy their outfits exactly, but to understand what it is about their look that works, and how you can translate that into your own wardrobe.

For me, that muse is Zoë Kravitz. Her style is effortless – she always looks like she’s just picked her outfit up off the floor (in a good way). There’s a bit of The Row, a bit of flea market. Whether she’s at the farmers market, heading to dinner, or walking a red carpet, there’s consistency in her look. And that’s what resonates with me most, the consistency. It makes shopping easier – you know immediately what won’t work, and it makes getting dressed, no matter the occasion, way simpler. She’s the perfect example of what I call the sliding scale method: the idea that you don’t need a totally different wardrobe for every scenario, just a way to shift your core pieces up or down depending on where you’re headed. She tweaks the level of polish without ever losing her signature vibe. She’s the reminder I need that great style isn’t about doing the most – it’s about knowing what works and sticking to it.

What do I like about her style?
