The Long (Short) Story
How I'm Wearing Bermuda Shorts This Summer
People watching outside of Granger & Co last week (my favourite pastime), it was clear to see that the Bermuda Short has taken over London street style. I spotted three very cool women wearing outfits built around a longer short and loved what I saw.
Proportions are the best way to dress modern in my opinion and seeing longer short outfits next to shorter shorts (especially denim), my eye was definitely drawn to a longer more relaxed fit.
Sometimes it takes a minute to figure out how to style and get your eye used to a new fit, so I’m breaking it down.
How To Style
Margot Robbie’s airport outfit went viral instantly and I think it was due to the fact it felt familiar yet fresh. We could recreate it with similar pieces we owned (or we bought ‘those’ Zara Shorts) and it felt wearable as well as current and cool.
That’s how I’m approaching styling my longer shorts - teaming back with my go-to pieces in my wardrobe. Simple tees or tanks, ballet flats or flip-flops.
I love how Hailey Bieber has teamed her white shorts with a white tee and black accessories - I’d go for a slightly longer tee (but still close fitting) and swap out the socks and sandals for ballet pumps. I’m very into the high contrast outfit.
When wearing a longer length short, I like to add some femininity to my outfit - be it with a silk or lace top, delicate shoe or sandal or jewellery. I’m drawn to embroidered or satin shorts with lace as they add a softness to create that contrast.
Proportions are important here too, I tend to keep the top half slimmer when wearing something loose and relaxed on the bottom.
The Edit

My favourite pairs skim the knees and have an effortless slouch.

Reformation Satin Shorts
Almada Label Tailored Black Shorts
Reformation Sandy Shorts
Cos Wide-Leg Denim Shorts
Outfit 1
A longer denim short teamed with a silk lace trimmed top. The green cord necklace and silk pouch bag add a delicate touch. I’d wear this for dinner or drinks (swap the shoe for a heeled sandal depending on the occasion)

Outfit 2
This could be a cute workwear outfit (swap the red heels for ballet pumps). I love beige and white paired together - super chic.
Shirt | Shorts | Sunglasses | Necklace | Sandals | Clutch Bag | Bronzing Drops
Outfit 3
A simple tank with embroidered shorts and ballet flats. Mixing masculine / feminine. A simple look with high contrast, letting the shorts have their moment.

How I’ve been styling mine this summer.
Pairing my Weekday Shorts with a Baby Tee and Ballet Flats for an early girls’ dinner in a friend’s garden.
Heading to Martino’s for a long lunch with girlfriends on a Saturday afternoon in my Citizens of Humanity Ayla Shorts (love the relaxed fit), Essen Shoes to elevate and a Róhe Silk and Lace Cami.
Running errands in the viral Margot Robbie look, sourced from Zara. Slipped on my Chanel pumps to add polish.
Heading for a day of appointments and press days on a very hot day. The Ayla Shorts again, an old Cos Cotton Poplin Top and added my Jennifer Behr Necklace for some interest.

You read my mind with this post! Totally the piece we are all trying to figure out. Thanks for the inspo :)
