Making Knitwear Cool
Using cosy knits as a styling tool
Cosy knits not only become my comfort blanket during autumn/winter, they act as a styling tool too.
Knitwear is obviously practical, being warm and cosy is a must, but, I still like to add a little edge to my outfits, something knitwear isn’t known for. As ever it’s all in how you style - the colours, the textures, the tones, the layering - play a huge part in making your knitwear look cool.
Whether I’m planning my outfit around a chunky knit, layering a crew neck over a tee or teaming two knits together – I’ve worked out the styles I need to create different looks for every occasion that work for how I like to dress.
The Chunky Knit, the one you can team with jeans and ballet pumps. No coat needed.
The V-Neck Knit, the one you wear when you want to look a little smarter, layer over a tee or lace bra, dress up or down
The Crew Neck, the one you reach for every day, one in all the neutral colours
The Fine Knit, the chic one you team with denim diamonds
The Red Knit, the one you reach for when you want a pop of colour
The Statement, the one with an interesting neck detail, texture or pattern
I can get lazy during the colder months, reaching for a black cashmere and jeans - prioritising ease and comfort, so I like to find knitwear with a twist.
Interesting neck details, a cropped sweater or cable knit details add interest. Luxury fabrics help to elevate the simple outfits.

Don’t just think of a knit to wear, think of it as a styling tool. Play with colours, textures and layering to create interest.
Double up two grey jumpers for texture, drape a yellow cashmere over a grey blazer, tie a beige knit around a pop of red. Look to the runway for endless styling opportunities with the humble knit.
